Sound stops momentarily when playing DVD

I use an optical cable from the United DVD-player to my Pioneer VSX-808RDS receiver. When playing dvds the sound cuts out momentarily for ½ a second or so. I can go back to the place where it happen in the movie and it will play without problems, then after another 5 minutes or so it happens again at another place in the movie. I have tried at coax cable also, but that wasn't helping, in fact it happened more often with the coax. Does anyone have a solution to what it might be. Perhaps in the setup on either the DVD-player or Receiver???

Does it happen when you use the analog connections? I am assuming this happens on more than one DVD. If it does happen on the analog connections, it's the DVD player. If it doesn't, it's the receiver.

Hope this helps.

As far as i can tell its only when playing the digitally media. If its the receiver what can be done about it?
