Does infrared work through tinted glass?

Hey everyone,

I'm having a small home theatre cabinet built, and the cabinetmaker is proposing to use gray tinted glass. He says he's used it before for home theatre stuff without any problems, but could someone definitively tell me that it won't interfere with infrared remote signals? If it does work, does it affect the strength?

Thank you!

Gary
It seems to reduce the "range" of the remote a bit, but if you are within 12ft or so from the device, you shouldn't have any problem. Been using the IR thru the smoked glass in my cabinet for many years.

ps...it helps to keep the glass nice and clean where your components are located!

Does infrared remotes work through frosted glass? Then, does it work through glass with the safety laminate?
Help please!
