Hi folks. I recently picked up the following TV and Surround Sound system. I've got it all hooked up, and I'm very excited. DVDs are working perfectly with the surround sound. My problem is, my sound won't work when I watch cable TV. Here is a list of items I'm using.

The DVD player is obviously hooked up to the TV via the HDMI cord. Now, is it a possibility that I need a seperate cable hooked up to get the TV going in surround sound? Let me know what you think folks, or if you need more info.

Eric, since your audio receiver doesn't have a digital audio input, achieving true digital surround from cable TV isn't possible. Your only choice is to connect the analog R/L audio line outputs from the cable box into the receiver. You will then get stereo or some sort of synthesized surround if your receiver has any such settings. If you are not using a cable box, you could run stereo audio into the receiver from the TV itself.
