I have a onkyo HT-R520 the front of it says 1000 watts. Does that mean you cant go over that amount of watts with all the speakers put together? If so what happens if I do?

No. Your Onkyo is not capable of putting out 1000 watts. Just get a decent set of speakers that is rated at 8 ohms and a sensitivity rating of 89 and higher.

I wanted to buy some better front speaker and I was looking at the Polk Audio RTi10 Main / Stereo Speaker. It 300 watts and 8 ohms. Would the reciever be able to handle the speakers? (Using a Velodyne DLS-4000R sub woofer.

Yes, the Onkyo will be able to handle them. Speakers don't have watts.

I was reading some of the customer reviews to the polk audio RTi10 and alot of people says that it has a good mid range. What does that mean?
