Any suggestions on which one is the better system. The room it will be in is about 20 by 14. I have heard good things about each so I'm looking for something to make one stand out.

Both are great starter systems for under 300.00

I know Best Buy sells both systems so maybe you can test them together to get a feel for their sound, features, looks, etc. For the record I've had the Kenwood HTB-505 for about a month and have it in a room similar to yours at 20 x 14. The Kenwood 505 is plenty loud for a room that size. I've satisfied with the overall sound and the remote can control all of my components (panasonic tv & dvd, motorola cable box). I purchased this at Best Buy because I had a gift card plus they have a $100 and a $50 rebate going for the Kenwood 505. Good luck on your search.
