After reading these forums for days I decided to take back my HTIB which was a Pannosic HT930. What i bought was a Pioneer VSX-815 receiver, Athena point 5 MK 2 speakers, A KLH sub, and Toshiba SD-4980 DVD player. I got this for around 525 dollars and was only 125 more than i paid for the HTIB. Still want to get to cool front floor standing speakers but for now i am tapped out.
I know the sub is cheap but its better than nothing for now.I got this hooked up to a 50 inch hitachi HDTV LCD. Thanks to all the posters for the input they give. I think i made the right choice and was wondering what you guys thought for my first set up?

Not bad at all, I think you did pretty well for a first time set-up with a limited budget! Have fun with your new toys:-)

Yes indeed Adam, your budget system is most assuradly better than my first stab at home theater. For the time being, you should enjoy it and stop any feelings of inadequacy over whether you did the right thing.

Good luck.

I am glad that you took the HTIB back.

Good judgement call. I am sure you can hear a big difference already.

Better speakers beat many speakers, any day.

Happy Holidays!
