STEREO VCR?

Unregistered guest
Hi,

I just have a quick question for someone in-the-know. I bought my home theater system about 11 years ago - Marantz/Paradigm. At that time, I was told I needed a hi-fi stereo VCR to run it through. I never asked why, but I don't know how to hook it up without the VCR. Can anyone explain why I need the VCR? Or not? THANKS!

Back in 1993 DVD's didn't exist. Then, the only way to enjoy movies in a home theater system was VHS tapes. A hi-fi stereo VCR was (and still is) necessary to hear surround sound on a tape. Now that there's another format (DVD) you don't have to hook up the VCR if you don't still have a use for it. (This is assuming you are using a DVD player.)
