Help with Onkyo 650 PLEASE! -DTS mode.

Hey All!

Need some help getting my DTS mode to work on my Onkyo 650 system.

I have a Samsung DVD player 741 with the audio setting set to bitstream, DTS On, an Dynamic Compression enabled. This is connected via a toslink (fiber optic) cable to the digital input on my Onkyo Reciever.

During playback my only choice is Dolby Digital and I cannot get it to go to DTS. Does anyone have a possible solution!?!

p.s. Using SW Episode II to Test.

Thank you!

stupid question but does the DVD give you any option in its audio settings to select Dolby or DTS?

Brian
Star Wars Episode II is encoded with Dolby Digital EX, there is no DTS option on that disc.

Hehe.

Stupid Me!

I realized last night after double checking all settings and connections that the Disc itself did not offer DTS.

Sorry! but thanks for the posts... ;`)

If you want to test your DTS, I know the following DVDs are encoded with both DD and DTS:

"Lord of the Rings: Extended Edition"
"Gladiator"
"Waterworld"

I would never recommend anyone ever watch the movie "Waterworld" unless they are prepared to endure great pain. Not sure if testing your DTS decoder is worth looking at that turd.
