I had my dvd player routed directly to the TV via component cables, and it looked great for a 32" Sony. But in order to get the best use of the xbox, I routed the xbox AND the dvd into the yamaha 5640 receiver (component cables) and THEN from the receiver to the TV (component).TV onlyhas 1 set component jacks. Now, the xbox looks fantastic, but the DVDs are crap. The skin tones are all red. What happened? The guy at the store told me I would not see a difference on the DVDs just because they were routed via my receiver. But this is not the case. Is there anything I can try other than just having EITHER DVD or Xbox? My receiver has no S Video out option; I can always just go back to composit cables for the xbox. Seems a shame.

Check if all the component video cables coming from your dvd player is pushed in all the way or plugged in properly. Red tones indicate that one of the cables are either broken or just not plugged in firmly.
