Hello, can you help me? I received as a gift a Digital Research DAV5.1+ Amplifier Model DR-1000 Platinum Series. Has 5 spkrs and sub. Sub is an amplifier with home theater type inputs on the back (two RCAjack 2ch inputs) and one 5.1 RCA type cluster. Basically it seems that you could input a TV audio/CD player or VCR and if you had the right output on DVD could connect that to the 5.1 cluster. It then has the outputs to the system's speakers.....

Here is my question. I currently have an RCA home theater system a/v receiver with sats and sub but it is relatively low qual and this new one is way more wattage. My DVD uses a Coax cable to connect to my RCA receiver...Can I use this new system? Or am I locked into needing the RCA a/v receiver to manage my components?

Again, I have 46" older RCA TV, RCA a/v, Direct TV box, plain VCR and new RCA DVD player. Before I give back the new system I just want to be sure that I can't effectively make a use for it. I'd really appreciate any feedback.

Thanks in advance.
