The impression I got from the last SATCON show I attended
IPTV is going to make a huge impact
to the way we watch TV 3 to 5 years from now
The same way small private sectors able to host websites
Many small companies gonna offer IPTV
i.e. small companies will be able to offer TV service and on-demand program shows
Can yo believe this
Small Mom and Pop will offer TV services

Unfortunatly
It will take easy 5 years for this to happen
The reason behind it is obvious monopoly
In Europe IPTV is already a smash hit
This country won't be the leader in IPTV as long as we got compaies like Verizon, DTV, DN, Bell TV Time Warner, Comcast, Cablevision etc.
AT&T coming up with their own IPTV called U-Verse

I myself
Decided to get into the IPTV business cuz I believe I can do something effective the way small companies got in the web hosting business
With less than $100,000 yo can start yor own TV service
BTW
Yo can make Free Phone calls using IPTV & VOIP over the internet
I'm not gonna release how to yet

The link yo have above is not geared towards IPTV
Good IPTV uses MPEG-4 or H264
I do have a directory to all the key companies in IPTV

MPEG-4 is the way to go
iPTV Set Top boxes is what to look for
Check this one:
http://www.verimatrix.com/partners/set_top_box_vendors.php

In terms of bandwidth comparison
1Mbps MPEG-4 IPTV is as good as 4mbps MPEG-2 Satellites
This is based on my first hand experience

Satellites won't be the best quality to watch TV 5 years from now
Watch IPTV grow 5 years from now

You are right on IPTV but internet provider must upgrade their equipments, because all servers can't do it right for now, but it grow up very fast.

I think that, each tv stations should paid for emitted on satellite or cable and forget local antenna which cost much more than a channel on one of both.
Like it we will not paid for receive those channels as for local antenna.

When we are able to see the quality of picture without encrypting, we can see how Dn and Bev give us very bad quality and crap.

Note that the same compressing method as IPTV can be use for satellite signal.

For the phone which is now a joke, here in Canada with Bell we pay again for ""Touch Tone"" which is a Extra charge then we all know that is not cost nothing more for provider then we can see and talk all over the world on internet.

Bell send a offer 19.95$CDN/month for over 100 channels include many HD channels with a 24 months contract.

So the big problem with IPTV is the picture/seconde number which is much less than normal 1080p HDTV.

The product which i want you goes see on this site is LNBs, it seems the best on the market, particularly C/Ku band.
