has anyone else seen distortion on the far left and right of the screen in panoramic mode? it's like everything is getting stretched outside the 4:3 area.
help!

I know the Mitsubishi's give you two options for stretching a 4:3 picture. The first is like the one you described where the middle of the picture has the least amount of stretch, and the edges have the most. This is based on the idea that your eyes spend most of the time looking at the center of the screen. I don't know about the Samsung, but the Mitsubishis also give you an option to uniformly stretch the picture across the screen.
