Speakers for a Yamaha RX-V1400/Pioneer 565 universal player system

Thinking of replacing my old Yamaha AX-500 amplifier with the RX-V1400 thus combining today's audio pleasure (now with AX-500 and very pleased with the performance!) with future Home theater capabilities (with RX-V1400). Is this possible? My current speakers are B&W DM570 which I plan on keeping as front speakers. Any suggestions for the rest configuration? Is my thinking correct? Can I get top audio quality for listening music (my top priority) and build a descent home theatre system? The rest of my system consists of a Pioneer 565 Universal Player which I think is quite good as a CD player. Any opinions on that? Any help would be appreciated! I am confused!!
