My tv doesn't have component inputs. Is it still worth it to buy a component cable from the dvd to reciever? Will it matter that when i hook the reciever to the tv since the tv doesnt have component inputs?

If your TV does not have component input you cannot use component video. After all, once you connect the DVD to the TV where does the picture go from there?
