Has anyone turned an already finished room or basement into a home theater? If so what obstacles did you run into? I bought my house last year with an already finished basement where I want to make the main room which is 16 x 16 a home theater. There are some cosmetic things I would need to change and add like remove the ceiling light and mabe add some recessed lighting in the back of the room and perhaps 2-4 sconces on the side walls. My ceiling is drywall. I already know I will have to cut a section of that open to run cables. To add the sconces on the side walls, I am going to have to cut those walls too right? Well not me but an electrician. I am debating if I want to change the color of carpet for that room as well and I havent decided on a paint color but I may go with a Indigo blue Behr paint. My components will either be in the very back of the room or in a walk in closet and have a remote control repeater thing up front by the screen to control everything.

What kind of display are you planning?

How high are the ceilings?

Will this be a 5.1 system or higher?

Do you already have the audio equipment or parts of it?

Send us some pictures and I am sure we can help.
