Stereophile moving into HT ... advice on pre-amp & speakers please!

Tried posting this in the Home Audio section but got no responses ...
After holding on with my nails, I've sold all my high end two-channel equipment except my powered Meridian M60 MkII speakers.
As a newbie to HT now, I'd like to purchase a receiver with a line out for my powered Meridians. I also need a center channel (under 7" height), a sub, and satellites.
I'd like to keep it under $1500. Any and all suggetions are much appreciated! Thanks!
