Yahoo!’s Steve Boom to address extension of the PC and the Internet at CONNECTIONS: The Digital Home Conference and Showcase

Dallas, TX April 19, 2005 — CONNECTIONS: The Digital Home Conference and Showcase will examine the role of the Internet beyond the personal computer with the keynote address on Thursday, May 12, from Yahoo! Inc.’s Steve Boom.

Boom, senior vice president of broadband access and bundled services for Yahoo!, will deliver the keynote Moving beyond the Desktop on Thursday, May 12, at 4:45 p.m. CONNECTIONS: The Digital Home Conference and Showcase, produced by Parks Associates in partnership with the Consumer Electronics Association, will take place May 11-13, 2005, at the Hyatt Regency near the San Francisco Airport in Burlingame, Calif.

“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to speak at CONNECTIONS, about the emerging Digital Home business as seen through the Yahoo! lens,” Boom said. “Today’s world is moving from mass media to personal media – a world in which the consumer is the programmer – and Yahoo! is focused on creating compelling new experiences to help issue in the next phase of the Internet.”

“Nearly 50% of all U.S. households have 50 or more digital photos stored on a home computer and 25% have 50 or more digital music files. This shift in how people use their PCs at home will continue,” said Tricia Parks, president of Parks Associates. “Yahoo! has been at the forefront in expanding Internet applications and relevance; Steve Boom’s keynote will detail for CONNECTIONS attendees next steps as the Internet continues expansion beyond its traditionally defined role on the PC.”

Boom will discuss the emerging digital home business, focusing on the key issues shaping the next generation of consumer products. He will speak specifically about the ways in which Yahoo! will extend beyond the desktop and onto network devices throughout the home, specifically by leveraging the Internet’s unique strengths in the areas of community, content, personalization, and search.
