Worlds First Multi-room, Multimedia On-Demand Home Entertainment System

REVOLUTIONARY MULTI-ROOM HOME MEDIA ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM

System Delivers On-Demand Surround Sound DVD Movies, TV Shows, Music, Photos, Web Browse, Chat & Radio

March 1st, 2004 — Axonix Corporation has announced MediaMax, the first Ethernet based home media entertainment system with on-demand multi-room viewing of true DVD quality movies, music, TV shows and the Web.

MediaMax allows multiple users to simultaneously watch true DVD quality movies in Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound. At the same time, other networked users can listen to their favorite music or Internet radio, watch recorded TV shows, email, chat, and surf the Web, show-off family movies or photo albums and even monitor home security cameras from any room in their home. All media is instantly accessible through a hand held wireless remote or wireless keyboard.

MediaMax installs in minutes on wired or with optional hardware, wireless Ethernet LANs. MediaMax comes complete with a Server and up to four Set Top Players per Server–requiring no additional hardware, software or costly subscription services. Multiple Servers may be configured to support unlimited rooms and storage capacity.

MediaMax consists of a Server that stores and delivers DVD and VJS movies, automatically pre-recorded TV shows, home videos, music and photos; and a Set Top Player that provides multiple room, remote controlled access to the homeowners collection of personal media, Web content, email, chat and internet radio. Other models include a DVD videodisc player and an HDTV component video output compatible Gaming PC.

In addition an X10 upgrade kit is available so that all of the homeowners X10 home lighting, temperature and wireless video web cameras can be viewed and controlled from the MediaMax.

MediaMax is the first product to offer a complete multi-room “Ready-To-Play” solution — a major improvement over single room Personal Video Recorder (“PVR”) products and “Media Centers” that require you to configure a home PC’s hardware and software. While other products only record TV shows using a lower quality video compression format and 2-channel stereo audio, MediaMax can both automatically record and playback TV shows plus deliver DVD movies in their original high quality, MPEG2 format, with full 6-channel Dolby surround sound audio. Using proprietary copy protection technology, MediaMax allows homeowners to access content within their home while deterring copyright violations.

MediaMax’s Set Top Player attaches to your home theatre TV and sound system via its S-Video or composite video and coax S/PDIF surround sound audio outputs. Plug in the Server and the Player(s), load your media onto the Server and the homeowner is ready to experience any media, on-demand from any room, any time using a simple handheld remote control.

MediaMax also supports virtually unlimited storage expansion. Attach one or more MediaStore Firewire appliances, each with up to 1-Terabyte for unlimited DVD movie and other media storage. Other media interfaces include Firewire, USB, Serial, Parallel and a 6 in 1 memory card reader. A Console Utility provides simple media loading and directory management.

MediaMax is the most affordable DVD movie server available. While other DVD servers are priced at $27,000 for a one room, 160 DVD movie only solution, MediaMax offers the same DVD capacity as well as music, Web and images for less than $9,000.

Retail pricing starts at $3,795 for a 1 room MediaMax system that stores, on average, 20 DVD movies and hundreds of music CDs, MP3’s, photos and other media. All models come with a 15 inch color LCD monitor and are available in either a desktop or a 19 inch rackmount chassis. Retail pricing for the MediaStore external add-on storage appliance starts at $995 for the 250GB and $4,995 for the 1 TeraByte model which stores on average 160 DVD movies. Adding additional rooms costs only $299 for a complete Set Top Player, wireless remote control and keyboard bundle. MediaMax is also being offered in a customizable kit form to Axonix Home Integration Partners.

Axonix will debut MediaMax at the Electronic House (EHExpo) booth number 1338, March 11th – 13th in Orlando Florida.
