Visto Powers Vodafone K.K. Launch of Japans First True Push Wireless Email

Vodafone Office Mail Delivers End-to-end Security and a Superior User Experience to Japan’s Mobile Professionals

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — December 15, 2005 — Visto Corporation, a leading global provider of secure push mobile email, today announced that Visto Mobile 5 with ConstantSync technology has been chosen by Vodafone K.K. to power Vodafone Office Mail, Japan’s first “True Push” wireless email service. Visto’s device-agnostic push wireless email offering enables Vodafone K.K., to deliver secure push email and PIM on leading handsets, starting with the Vodafone 702NK II (Nokia 6680).

This release of the Vodafone Office Mail service follows Visto’s signature of a global contract with Vodafone Group Plc announced in April 2005. Japan is the latest region to launch a Vodafone wireless push email service powered by Visto Mobile.

With the Visto Mobile solution, Vodafone K.K. is able to offer its subscribers instantaneous, two-way delivery of email, contacts and calendars to select phones, starting with the Vodafone 702NK II (Nokia 6680) smartphone. Its flexibility and end-to-end security makes Office Mail the ideal solution for all business professionals from larger corporations to smaller companies, SOHOs and consumers. Because the Visto Mobile solution is a powerful yet easy-to-use service, mobile users can check email, make appointments or update contact lists when on the go and away from their desks or out of the office.

“We have teamed with Vodafone K.K. to offer mobile users the first true push email service in a market that leads the world in wireless innovation,” said Brian A. Bogosian, chairman, president & CEO of Visto Corporation. “We will continue to lead the mobile email market – in terms of handset support, customer traction and most importantly, through product innovation. By continuing to expand our platform to offer mobile users more choice and flexibility, we empower the wireless operators like Vodafone K.K. to drive mass enterprise adoption of mobile email.”

“Vodafone K.K.’s Vodafone Office Mail service allows workers to access their corporate mail, calendar and contacts even when they are away from the office,” said Shinkichi Kawakami, Executive Officer, Enterprise Business Unit Director, Vodafone K.K.
“We are delighted to have this new service offering based upon the push email platform technology provided by Visto Corporation. I am entirely convinced that Vodafone Office Mail is the perfect service to enable Japanese workers to be just as productive outside the office as they would be sitting directly in front of their office PC. We expect this service will be popular not only with business customers, but also among consumers as well.”

Visto has the distinction of being the first mobile email vendor to deliver push email on more than 60 handsets from the industry’s leading device manufacturers. The Visto platform enables the instantaneous and secure two-way delivery of email, contacts and calendar updates to the broadest set of devices across all operating systems including Symbian, Palm, Microsoft Windows Mobile, J2ME MIDP 2.0, IMAP4 and SyncML. Its flexibility represents the ideal solution for business users from any size of enterprise.

“In the past, mobile data services were based on proprietary systems and hardware, devoid of all security and lacking an intuitive user interface,” said Antoine Blondeau, SVP and GM for Asia/Pacific of Visto Corporation. “With Visto Mobile, we offer business users an instinctive user experience, the freedom to choose among email solutions and devices, and the reassurance that critical business communications are wrapped in end-to-end security. By integrating these key ingredients, we have pioneered the solution that will pave the way for adoption of push email in the Japanese market.”

“We are glad to work with Vodafone K.K. and Visto to offer business users a compelling push-email experience on the Vodafone 702NK II (Nokia 6680) smartphone. Nokia Japan will continue to strengthen our collaboration with key industry players to provide more value-added solutions and services to business customers.” said Heikki Tenhunen, President of Nokia Japan.

Visto Corporation’s Asia Pacific Headquarters in Japan is working closely with Vodafone K.K. to provide the local support and integration required to bring the service to the Japanese market. The local Support and Professional Services team will continually collaborate with Vodafone K.K. to ensure the quality of the Office Mail service, support for leading handsets and integration with Vodafone K.K.’s management, support and billing systems.
