ValueFirst Messaging to be the first virtual operator in Romania

ValueFirst Messaging to be the first virtual operator in Romania

June 2006, Bucharest

Bucharest, 2006 – ValueFirst became the first MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) to start its operations in Romania. ValueFirst, which is a leading MVNO for data services with over 350 enterprises as its customers chose Romania as the base country for entry into the Eastern European market.

ValueFirst decided to choose Romania as there were no players in the country proving carrier-class data mobile data services to the enterprise customers and high penetration (over 50%) of mobile phones. Romania’s economy has been growing at an explosive phase and it has registered a significantly higher FDI (€ 3.5 billion) then its near neighbors in 2004. Inflation has been steadily reducing compared to other countries in CEE and its GDP growth rate was 8.5% just below 8.7% at the top of the CEE league table in 2004. Romania is also strategically located between Europe, Asia and the Middle East. “ValueFirst plans to expand its operation in other East European countries and the Middle East in next one year”, said Mr. Vijay Shukla, Head – International Sales for ValueFirst.

With the advent of globalization, today the competition is extremely intense in Romania and there is a clear need for the businesses to reduce cost and improve efficiency. The enterprise messaging services helps the businesses achieve these objectives by providing an alternate, cheaper and faster means of communication.

In Romania, ValueFirst Romania brand is represented by Dream Advertising SRL.

Speaking at the launch ceremony of ValueFirst Romania, Mr. George Pascu, CEO, ValueFirst Romania said “Messaging services as a means of cost effective and efficient communication will gain importance as Romania will soon be a part of EU and it would need to adopt global best practices in line with the other EU countries”, George has been a serial entrepreneur before taking responsibility of becoming CEO for ValueFirst Romania.

Mr. Marius Florea, Country Head, ValueFirst Romania, remarked “The penetration of mobile phones in Romania is many times more than in India. As these services have found high adoption in India, their adoption in Romania would be even higher due to greater concentration of mobile phones.”
