Universal Remote Control Introduces the RFPaka, First Barrier-Free RF Solution for the Retail Market

Combo Combines RF10 Remote and Base Station for User-Friendly Control and Price; Available Now at Best Buy

HARRISON, NY, Oct. 24, 2006 ‘” Universal Remote Control, Inc. (URC), the leader in control system design and manufacturing for home and professional entertainment systems, introduces the RF+Paka¢ remote control solution, which brings advanced custom control to the consumer retail market at a highly affordable, consumer-friendly price.

The new RF+Pak consists of the MasterControla¢ RF10 Remote and the PowerBlastera¢ Base Station. In addition to integrated custom control, the RF+Pak features Barrier-Free signal transmission by radio frequency (RF). This eliminates the need to point the remote directly at components to activate them, since a line of sight is not required.

The RF+Pak is available initially from Best Buy, North America’s leading consumer electronics retailer, and on BestBuy.com beginning in October at a suggested price of $119.99. Best Buy Co., Inc.

The new RF+Pak sends a multidirectional RF signal directly through walls, doors, floors and entertainment center cabinetry. Used with the PowerBlaster, the MasterControl RF10 can control components that are completely out of sight and up to 100 feet away, both indoors and outdoors.

“You can control your A/V components everywhere from anywhere,” said Debra Sharker, national sales manager for the Consumer Products Division of Universal Remote Control. “Consumers finally have an affordable way to take control of their home entertainment systems.”

The RF capability also makes the remote control more reliable, flexible and portable, since it can be carried from room to room. AV systems respond more quickly to its commands, especially those designating multiple linked operations; and components can be hidden out of sight, for those who prefer not to look at them.

A step-by-step DVD Guide included with the RF+Pak features easy-to-follow instructions and animations for fast, flawless programming. No PC or technical background is required to set-up and operate this remote. Enjoy the DVD, follow its instructions, and the coffee table clutter of multiple additional remotes will shortly disappear.

The MasterControl RF10 also features two new Universal Remote Control functions ‘” MacroPowera¢ and SimpleSounda¢. MacroPower turns several A/V components on or off at the same time, and uses special command, or macro, keys to switch sources and inputs with the press of a single button. SimpleSound provides users with total and convenient A’one-touchA’ control over the volume functions on all their components, including devices ‘” such as TiVo, DVD players and VCRs ‘” that do not have built-in volume controls.

The MasterControl RF10 comes loaded with thousands of pre-programmed codes, and is guaranteed to work with all A/V components, including televisions, projectors, satellite receivers, cable boxes, DVD players and recorders, audio receivers, lighting controls, media center PCs, iPods, Xboxes, XM Radios and more.

Additional features of the MasterControl RF10 include the ability to control up to 8 A/V components, and dedicate 24 MacroPower buttons for up to 20 commands per button.
