Universal Remote Control Launches Complete Control Suite Software for AV Systems

Installer-Friendly Toolkit Maximizes Benefits of New MSC-400 Master
System Controller by Making Programming Simpler, Faster, More Intuitive

HARRISON, NY, September 18, 2006 — Universal Remote Control, Inc. (URC), the leader in control system design and manufacturing for home and professional entertainment systems, has introduced Complete Control Suite (CCS) programming software for its revolutionary new MSC-400 Master System Controller and family of compatible remote controls.

The Complete Control Suite brings out the full power of the MSC-400 to seamlessly harness the capabilities of sophisticated home entertainment systems and tame their complexity. It achieves this by making the programming process as fast as possible for installers without hindering or obstructing their imagination and ingenuity.

With the arrival of the MSC-400, installers are freed from the tedium of programming “point and hope” macros individually on each remote control throughout the house. Instead, the installer programs bulletproof, sensor-based ‘IF/ELSE’ automation commands in the Master System Controller, and focuses his or her talent on making the remote control User Interface as simple and friendly as possible. The Complete Control Suite, with its quick tab-based interface, helps to make the process as fast as possible, without losing an ounce of flexibility or customization capability. Simply put, the Complete Control Suite is the installer’s best friend throughout the process of automating an electronic life style.

The Complete Control Suite supplements, rather than replaces, the programming software for URC’s varied products. Once downloaded, the Complete Control Suite automatically installs all additional programming software for individual remotes and the Master System Controller. The Control Suite’s toolbar lets installers program multiple remotes side by side on their screens, quickly switch between applications, and quickly switch between remotes. To help installers stay current, the Complete Control Suite can automatically Live Update all the programming software for each system’s remote or remotes.

The MSC-400 Controller possesses a powerful machine intelligence that frees compatible remotes to run sophisticated multi-component AV systems simply, flexibly and quickly by triggering complex automation routines housed within the MSC-400. Using the new Complete Control Suite, installers benefit in numerous ways. They can more easily add additional MSC-400 Controllers and remotes to cover multiple rooms and entertainment systems. They can completely customize the system for each room or user, and easily update individual automation routines to accommodate system changes. They can improve the ability of hand-held remotes to command components from multiple manufacturers, while taking full advantage of the MSC-400’s vast memory capacity. They can exploit diverse connection technologies — including Radio Frequency, Infrared, RS232, Relay and USB — and achieve much more as well.

For example, the Suite enables a professional programmer to create automated routines for each activity, in each room, for each user inside the program’s Master System Controller tab. Then, for each user interface in the house, the installer clicks on the tab for the remote control, and simply drags a single trigger command to the optimum button. This capability frees programmers from the drudgery of constantly, repetitiously programming macros for each remote. Instead, the open, flexible architecture of the Suite gives them the power to customize the user interface quickly, while harnessing the vast automation capability of the Master System Controller.

In these and numerous other ways, the new software makes it easier for installers to help family members more easily access, use and enjoy their home entertainment systems.

The Complete Control Suite is available at no charge to dealers and custom installers from the URC Control Room, which is the professionals-only password protected section of the new, enhanced Web site URC has launched at www.universalremote.com.

The URC Control Room is also where dealers and installers can find all product and system documentation, manuals, artwork, sample files and other unique resources. URC relocated the information here from its prior place in the public portion of the site to send a strong, clear message of support to the installer community.
