Sooloos Introduces RackMount Models for Seamless Installation

New York, New York, January 22, 2009–Sooloos LLC, manufacturer of innovative, functional, server-based home entertainment systems and recently acquired by Meridian Audio Limited, is pleased to introduce, at no additional cost, new RackMount options for its existing line of media servers.

The new RackMount models will be available as dual-rack-space (2U) designs finished in black for Sooloos’s Source, Twinstore, and Ensemble devices. While retaining the core features of their standard counterparts, the RM models also incorporate important upgrades, including internal fans for heat dispersion and a front-panel power switch, for superior performance and greater ease of installation.

“Custom installation remains the core of our business,” says Sooloos COO Peter Wellikoff. “We felt it absolutely necessary to support the installers, not only by providing rack-mountable options, but also to produce these products at no additional cost.”

The Source: One RM and Source:Five RM provide the audio outputs and serve as the hub of a Sooloos system. The Source components provide connection to a stereo or audio distribution system via configurations of either one or five stereo RCA-type analog outputs respectively, and an S/PDIF digital output.

The Twinstore RM is a network-attached storage device featuring two removable hard-disk trays: one for primary storage, one for backup storage. The backup process takes place automatically and is completely transparent to the user, creating an exact copy of the primary library with no interruption of service. Two 1-terabyte hard disks provide mirrored storage of about 2,400 albums, stored as both lossless PCM audio for use by the Sooloos system, and as MP3s for export to a portable music device. For increased reliability, the Twinstore’s operating system is a read-only flash memory that cannot be corrupted.

The Ensemble RM combines the functions of the Source and Store components in a single chassis. It features four single-ended analog stereo RCA-type outputs and an S/PDIF digital audio output for up to five discrete zones. Like all Sooloos components, the Ensemble connects to other devices in the system via standard TCP/IP Ethernet cable, using CAT5/5e/6 cables with RJ-45 connectors.

The Ensemble RM has a 1-terabyte removable hard-disk tray for storage. Like the Twinstore, it can hold up to 2,400 albums, stored as both lossless PCM audio for use by the Sooloos system and as MP3s for export to an iPod or other portable device. A one-touch process allows the user to back up all media stored on the Ensemble’s drive to an external hard drive attached to a personal computer.

In the ever-changing world of home-entertainment technology, the Sooloos media-management system is a complete solution that allows music and photos to be accessed easily and stored reliably.

The RackMount models will be available in February.

Manufacturer’s suggest pricing:
Sooloos Source: One RM: $4,000
Sooloos Source:Five RM: $5,000
Sooloos Ensemble RM: $3,500
Sooloos Twinstore RM: $2,500
