Sooloos Ensemble System Stores, Manages and Socializes Music Collections

With no instruction manual and a simple, intuitive touchscreen interface, Sooloos users can interact with their entire CD and MP3 audio collections like never before.

Sooloos

The new Sooloos Ensemble home entertainment system stores, manages, distributes and presents detailed information about music collections and artists, in a way that is fun and social for the user.

Two key pieces of hardware make up a Sooloos Ensemble System. The Sooloos Control: One is a 17-inch, commercial-grade touchscreen with a USB port for uploading digital files and a CD tray for “ripping” music from pre-purchased discs. Once a collection is saved on the server, the Control: One also provides the user experience of browsing through music collections by cover art, artist, alphabetical order, genre, release date and a number of other options. The second piece of hardware is the Sooloos Ensemble Server. This storage and management device holds up to a terabyte of imported audio and metadata information (cover art, production credits etc) and acts as the distribution hub for sharing music throughout a house.

Sooloos was born on the premise that music is social. Their system allows users to create playlists and manage music collections through simple drag-and-drop actions on an audiophile-chic touchscreen. A more engaging interaction with music is achieved because the listener has access to cover art, lyrics, reviews, production credits and other recommended artists which could lead them to previously unexplored artists and genres.

The quality of the music stored on the Sooloos Ensemble Server is essentially the same as CD quality (up to 2,400 albums in both maximum quality FLAC format and 192k MP3 format). The Ensemble Server connects to an audio system and home network and can be easily accessed and managed through Sooloos Control:PC Software on a third-party control such as a laptop or other PC’s web browser or Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch. While the Control: One is the recommended control device, Sooloos is committed to providing a robust management solution and secondary controls play a vital role in providing additional value.

The Sooloos Ensemble System has an MSRP of $7,900.
