HD QUALITY AND SLEEK DESIGN CONVERGE WITH SONY’S QUALIA 002, HDV CAMCORDER
SAN DIEGO, April 21, 2005 – Sony is making an exciting addition to its state-of-the-art QUALIA line of ultimate entertainment electronics products in the U.S. with a new camcorder that has the ability to record and playback high-definition video content.
QUALIA 002 merges sleek design with cutting-edge technology, offering the ultimate in video recording. From a design perspective, it has a highly polished and elegantly styled black piano finish. When it comes to technology, QUALIA 002 features 1080 interlaced lines of true HD resolution – one of the highest resolutions (1440 pixels x 1080 lines) of any consumer camcorder available – and the ultimate in picture and sound quality.
“This new high-definition camcorder offers exquisite picture and sound quality, as well as cutting edge design, which are hallmarks of the QUALIA product line,” said Kenichi (Ken) Sugawara, Sony Electronics’ QUALIA U.S. senior vice president.
The camcorder comes with the new Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar SQ T* (star) lens (specialized for QUALIA). While minimizing warping and maximizing sharpness and contrast, the specially designed lens is highly polished making for pristine picture quality.
Another superior feature of QUALIA 002 is the built in enhanced capsule stereo microphone, which has enhanced sensitivity allowing the camcorder to pick up a wider range of sound and provide more life-like audio to complement the high-definition video.
QUALIA 002 also features a 3.5-inch 16:9 “Clear Photo” LCD screen offering improved viewable image contrast. An attachable shoulder stabilizer and belt, extended life battery (NP-F970), quick charging unit (AC-VQ850), an attachable zoom mic (ECM- 672), and genuine leather grip belt all contribute to the allure of QUALIA 002.
This stunning new model will be available this spring for about $5,800 and includes a three-year parts and labor limited warranty. It will be sold at QUALIA stores in New York and Las Vegas, via phone at 1-877-QUALIA-3, and through Sony’s “Cierge” exclusive shopping program.
