Sharp Expands Wide-XGA Lineup with Affordable DLP BrilliantColor™ Professional Projector

Sharp is expanding its suite of Wide-XGA (WXGA) Projectors with a new DLP BrilliantColor™ model that combines vibrant color reproduction, exceptional compatibility, reliability and affordability for an ideal offering for corporate, educational and home/office applications. The projector can display full 720p from HD sources, pixel perfect 1280 x 800 (16:10 aspect ratio) WXGA resolution from the newest generation PCs, and also provides an expanded color palette for more realistic and lifelike images, utilizing BrilliantColor technology with multi-color processing.

“Sharp’s new PG-F255W WXGA DLP BrilliantColor projector is packed with features and performance to meet the needs of any professional presentation in almost any business setting,” said Dan Wynne, senior director of marketing, Professional Display Division, Sharp Information and Imaging Company of America. “With 2500 ANSI Lumens brightness and full 1280 x 800 WXGA resolution, the PG-F255W is ideal for business professionals who rely on precise and undistorted image reproduction for captivating presentations in corporate, higher-education and house of worship settings. And, with an estimated street price of under $1000 and built-in closed caption decoder it expands the market for high performance WXGA projection well into K-12 education. The projector also offers extremely high reliability and image quality, for use in rental/staging and government applications.”

BrilliantColor and Sophisticated Image Quality
The new PG-F255W WXGA projector features high brightness of 2500 ANSI Lumens and 2200:1 Contrast Ratio for a clear picture in virtually any lighting condition. For superior color accuracy, the projector uses DLP BrilliantColor technology for truer, more vibrant colors. BrilliantColor can enable up to a fifty percent increase in mid tones and expands the color palette beyond red/green/blue to include yellow, white, magenta and cyan for more realistic and lifelike color reproduction.

Intuitive Design and Ease to Use
The PG-F255W employs ultra-quiet cooling fans to reduce distracting fan noise to an almost unnoticeable level. DLP projector owners also enjoy lower cost of ownership and longer projector lifespan thanks to the filter-free DLP sealed system that prevents dust, dirt and smoke from entering core parts of the optics.

The projector has advanced features for easy use in virtually any business or education application. The on-screen guide and “help” function ensures simple setup and operation. An advanced picture mode pre-sets the projector to recall preferred settings for multiple users automatically and a built-in closed caption decoder with black and white text enhances legibility. A wireless remote includes full wireless mouse control when a USB cable is connected between the projector and a PC or when used with the optional AN-MR2 Remote IR Receiver. The remote also includes a built-in spot light function and an on-screen pointer to help during presentations.

The projector weighs only 6.4 pounds and can be ceiling-mounted (for permanent installations), operated from a table-top or AV cart, or used in rear-projection mode. For portable use, it can be moved easily from classroom to lecture hall or boardroom to home office.

Extensive Connectivity
The Sharp PG-F255W projector affords a wide array of inputs and outputs for use in connecting to laptop and desktop computers, DVD Players, cable and satellite boxes, HDTV tuners, VCRs and video game consoles. In addition to its standard analog RGB/component and audio/video input terminals, inputs are provided for a DVI-I analog/digital source with HDCP compliance which provides secure, virtually noise-free digital connection. A built in audio system is provided, along with variable audio line-out (for use with powered loudspeakers or a larger external sound system), RGB loop-through output, RS-232C and USB for mouse control.

The PG-F255W also has a built-in network connection with an RJ-45 LAN Connector for remote control and access by a Web browser for diagnostics and automatic e-mail of product status. Sharp’s free downloadable Sharp Display Manager Software allows for multiple projector management over a network and monitoring for theft protection.

The PG-F255W is backed by a two-year parts and labor limited warranty including two years of Sharp’s industry-leading 24-hour turnaround “ER” Express Repair support. The warranty on the user-replaceable projection lamp is 90 days.

Availability
The PG-F255W is available this month through Sharp authorized dealers and resellers.
