Runco Earns Highly Coveted RESI Award 2005 Finalist Position

UNION CITY, CA — August 5, 2005 — Runco International, the world leader in high-end home cinema video display technology, has today announced that its groundbreaking CineWideTM with AutoScope technology has been named as a finalist in the Residential Systems RESI Awards Video Projector category.

“To be recognized as a RESI Awards finalist is a true honor for us at Runco International,” said Bob Hana, president of Runco International, Inc. “Runco’s mission has always been to push the technological envelope beyond existing benchmarks and we’re very proud with what we have accomplished with the breakthrough CineWide with AutoScope technology. As the hype for widescreen entertainment continues to grow, we’re ready to provide the people that really want to watch a movie the way the director intended it with a thrilling experience.”

With its ability to display movies formatted in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio, as well as a motorized anamorphic lens assembly via RS-232 commands; the projector unit allows for increased resolution where viewers can switch to the new, extra-wide viewing mode with a single remote control button.

Currently available on several Runco projectors, CineWide with AutoScope is enhanced not only with a new lens configuration, but also with software programmed to ensure uncompromised widescreen reproduction of movies originally filmed in the CinemaScope 2.35:1 format.

Through a unique combination of electronic and optical engineering, each projector is able to fully utilize their DMD chips, thereby producing a 2.35 image. Regardless of the video source used, these projectors maximize clarity, color saturation and contrast of all source material. Each projector is also able to fully maintain all high-definition resolution or upgrade pictures to virtual high-definition for widescreen projection.

Residential Systems is the custom installer’s most highly regarded publication. Selection criteria include excellence in aesthetic appeal, ergonomic design, and installability. Winners will be announced during the Resi Awards ceremony at the CEDIA Expo on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at 5 p.m. in Room 146. Finalists will have their products on display at the ceremony.
