RTIs Newest Universal Controller Takes Home Control to the Next Level

CHANHASSEN, MN — September 24, 2004 — Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI), the leader in flexible home control solutions, continues to set the standard for innovation with its new T3 Universal Controller. This handheld controller takes remote control to a new level with the ideal combination of a large, full-color LCD display and hard buttons for simple and precise use of home theaters, distributed audio systems, lighting control, and more. Its light weight, slim design, and ergonomic button configuration makes this the most user-friendly and powerful universal system controller in its class. The T3 (MSRP: $1,299.00) will be available 1st quarter of 2005 to custom installers nationwide through AVAD’s distribution network (www.avad.com).

“The T3 Universal System Controller provides the next-generation home system control solution that users and installers have been waiting for,” said Pete Baker, director of sales and marketing for RTI. “Our complete, home control solution gives users powerful and reliable control of every aspect of their high-end audio & video home systems. With RTI’s unparalleled array of support accessories, installers can cost-effectively integrate the functions of customers’ components for a fun and automatic control experience that matches the best quality entertainment and convenience systems. The T3 controller replaces all of the homeowner’s current remotes and marks the next level of advanced control technology.”

Remote Technologies Inc built upon the outstanding features of its previous controls in designing the new T3 Universal Controller. The remote features a 3.5 inch, brightly backlit touchscreen capable of displaying high-resolution graphics, animations, and custom buttons. The touch-sensitive LCD allows installers unmatched flexibility in customizing an interface that provides users intuitive access to all functions of any entertainment system with minimal operating instruction needed. In addition to the LCD, there are 16 hard buttons that allow easy access to frequently used functions. The T3’s touchscreen and tactile buttons are all fully programmable and macro-assignable, and allow installers to build an infinitely flexible and expandable control platform for any system in the home. A 32-bit, 200 MHz XScale processor ensures quick, reliable response, and the remote’s non-volatile flash memory allows storage of an expansive library of codes and commands, which remain in tact even when power is lost.

The new T3 is capable of simultaneously transmitting both infrared (IR) and radio frequency (RF) commands powerfully throughout the home, to control equipment anywhere in the home–even through walls and cabinets. The T3 Universal Controller measures 1.1 inches thin and weighs 7.4 ounces, making use effortless even for small hands. A tilt sensor can automatically illuminate both the touchscreen and buttons when the remote is picked.

The T3 Universal System Controller’s 32-MB memory capacity allows installers to control a house full of components with elaborate macro sequences. RTI has made programming functions easier than ever with its Windows-based TheaterTouch Designer Software. Evolving over 10 years, it has become the most rock-solid programming interface available. It lets installers use any PC to create, store, and drag and drop macros, IR codes, and bitmaps for reliable results every time.

Used alone, the T3 is a powerful user interface that provides consumers access to all functions of any sized audio/video system. Coupled with the RP-6 Remote Control Processor, voltage/video status-monitoring modules, RF receiver modules, and an RS-232 interface, the T3 lets installers create a truly automated control system. The T3 includes a Lithium-Polymer battery and docking station. Batteries charge in 3-4 hours, boast a 30-day stand-by, minimum continuous run-time of 2.5 hours, and average of 5-7 days under normal use.
