RTI Unveils Its Most Powerful Universal System Controller

The T2+ Features a High-Contrast Touchscreen Display Plus the Perfect Assortment of Hard Buttons For a Powerful Home Theater Control Solution

CHANHASSEN, MN — July 1, 2004 — Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI), the leader in innovative home control solutions, raises the standards for universal remote control performance by releasing the new T2+ Universal System Controller. The T2+ provides users complete and intuitive control of their home theaters, distributed audio systems, lighting control systems, and more–with little or no operating instruction necessary. Scheduled for release this summer, the T2+ (MSRP: $599) will be available to custom installers nationwide through AVAD’s distribution network (www.avad.com).

“We’re very excited with the launch of the T2+ Universal System Controller,” said Pete Baker, director of sales and marketing for RTI. “By improving on our flagship T2 remote we’re providing consumers with enhanced functionality for complete control of their home entertainment systems. For installers, the easy to program T2+ will be the perfect complement for any home theater system they install due to its powerful flexibility and performance.”

Measuring 1.1 inches thin, and weighing 8.5 ounces, the T2+ is an ultra-slim package that makes accessing all capabilities easy even for smaller hands. It perfectly balances basic and advanced functions, ergonomically laying out 32 fully programmable hard buttons and a touch-sensitive LCD that displays high-contrast menus and scroll lists. A tilt sensor automatically illuminates the buttons and touchscreen when the remote is picked up, and the LCD never needs calibrating.

The T2+ Universal System Controller features twice the memory of the previous T2 model, allowing installers to control more components and program more elaborate macro sequences. RTI has made programming functions easier than ever with its Windows-based TheaterTouch Designer Software. Evolving over 10 years, it has become the most rock-solid programming interface available. It lets installers use any PC to create, store, and drag and drop macros, IR codes, and bitmaps for reliable results every time. The T2+ also has non-volatile, field-upgradeable Flash memory, so system configuration won’t be lost even when battery power is gone.

Used alone, the T2+ is a powerful user interface that provides consumers access to all functions of any sized audio/video system. Coupled with the RP-6 Remote Control Processor, voltage/video status-monitoring modules, RF receiver modules, and an RS-232 interface, the T2+ lets installers create a truly automated control system. The T2+ includes a Lithium-Polymer battery and docking station. Batteries charge in 4 hours, boast a 30-day stand-by, minimum continuous run-time of 6 hours, and average 15 days under normal use.
