Let’s be clear: tossing a pair of overpriced headphones into your carry-on and calling it “audiophile travel” is like claiming Elite instant coffee is a fine roast because it came in a fancy tin. The Pro-Ject Travel Set laughs in the face of such sonic shortcuts. This is real Hi-Fi—true stereo, proper amplification, bass you can feel and detail you can taste—packed into a flight case that’s tougher than your last layover at Ben-Gurion. Whether you’re hitting the road, setting sail, or being catapulted first-class into the sky, this is high-end sound that travels like a gentleman and plays like a beast. It’s not convenience—it’s commitment.
Why might you want this? Because you’re the sort of discerning lunatic who refuses to let a five-star hotel suite echo like a shoebox. The Pro-Ject Travel Set isn’t some Bluetooth boombox masquerading as Hi-Fi—this is a real system: an ultra-compact integrated amplifier with analog volume control (because your ears deserve curves, not digits), a pair of proper 2-way bass reflex speakers with carbon composite woofers, and yes, copper speaker cables—because we’re not savages.
There’s even a subwoofer output if you feel like waking up the yacht. Toss in a remote, magnetic grills, and enough damping feet to make a Michelin-star chef jealous, and you’ve got a portable Hi-Fi rig that says, “Yes, I could have streamed this on my phone speaker… but I also could have eaten room service sushi.”
The Pro-Ject Travel Set: For Those Who Consider Bluetooth Speakers the Musical Equivalent of Warm Gin and a Slap
Why suffer the bleating indignity of plastic soundboxes when you can unleash proper stereo fury from a rig so refined it should come with a valet? With carbon woofers, real copper cables, and an amp smaller than Baldrick’s intellect but infinitely more powerful, this is travel Hi-Fi for those who believe compromise is for French diplomats and poor taste.
Available in Silver/White, Black/White, Black/Black, Silver/Walnut, and Black/Walnut—no gold finishes here. This isn’t some Devialet showroom ornament. Just clean, grown-up design that won’t make your luggage look like a fashion influencer’s skincare bag.
“I’m crazy about music, so I’ve always wanted to listen to true hi-fi stereo wherever life takes me,” said Heinz Lichtenegger, CEO of Pro-Ject Audio Systems. He uses the Travel Set on business trips, adding, “It’s perfect for any hotel room—easy and quick to set up.”

Yes, it’s speaker cable. But it’s 99.99% oxygen-free copper, which means your precious signal flows cleaner than a royal bribe. The 1.5 mm² litz construction ensures flexibility and fidelity, and absolutely no excuse for using that awful lamp cord from the hardware store.

Damp It (6 pieces) – Because Your Speakers Deserve Spa Treatment
These special damping feet help decouple your precious gear from resonant tables, wobbly hotel nightstands, or the deck of your absurdly loud yacht. Think of them as vibration foot soldiers—small, round, and merciless.

The Bottom Line
You’re probably wondering how much all of this is going to cost you — surprisingly less that any of us would have thought.
“The whole setup is priced at €699 ($790),” says Jakob Dirnberger, Art Director at Pro-Ject Audio Systems. He also confirmed that the high-fidelity portable system isn’t a limited edition—meaning music lovers everywhere will have a shot at bringing real stereo sound wherever they go.
The Pro-Ject Travel Set isn’t just portable HiFi—it’s a statement. You get hi-res Bluetooth with aptX HD for streaming that doesn’t suck, analog inputs for your legacy gear, and a sub-out if you’re feeling extra. Everything packs into a flight-ready, bomb-proof case that says, “I take sound seriously—even at 30,000 feet or docked in Saint-Tropez.” Compact, capable, and unapologetically cool.

If Pro-Ject can figure out how to build a functional turntable into the available space inside the travel case — I’ll take two of these and put one in my cottage and second in my home office. Maybe even buy one for my kids.
Love this concept. The price is actually reasonable.

Hi Ian,
I’m the person who gave you the idea to use Amazon foam laptop sleeves for your KEF LSXs, so I’m well-versed in traveling with Hi-Fi gear. While this product looks interesting, I think it’s a miss.
My preferred travel setup is built around KEF EGGs, which weigh 5lbs each and can be packed inside foam laptop sleeves, stored inside checked baggage, or carried on the plane in a handy travel bag I got from Amazon. The EGGs have native analog and digital connections, so connectivity isn’t an issue. In my setup, I use a Samsung S21+ as a digital hub. It provides access to all major streaming platforms (audio and video). I use a small external USB hub that enables an ESS dongle DAC for audio (to the EGG’s analog input) and HDMI for video streaming (think YT TV, Amazon Prime, etc, from the US).
I’ve just returned from 6 months in New Zealand, and this system performed well beyond my expectations.
Several small powered speakers have analog and digital connectivity, if you don’t want to use the EGGs, which will fit inside your checked baggage and provide excellent sound quality.
While Pro-Ject’s effort is interesting, it seems overpriced as what you’re really paying for is a fancy travel case.

Larry,
I see your point, but how many people are going to schlep a system like this in their checked baggage? I see this as a trunk system that goes with you to the cabin, local B&B, or cross-country trek with the camper or SUV. I like that Pro-Ject includes the cables and isolation pads as well. It’s simple and compact in a custom case. You can also add other sources to the amplifier and let’s be honest — people want a very low barrier when it comes to using electronics and being able to pack it away when not in use.
Welcome home.
