Pragmatic Develops VGA Audio Video Over Category 5 Wires

Santa Clara, CA, October 13, 2007 – Pragmatic Communication Systems, Inc., an industry innovator in wired and wireless systems since 1994, recently developed a great new innovation for the AV industry: CATS VGA high definition video transmission on category 5 wires.

VGA is the newest advancement in Pragmatic’s CATS high performance systems for the distribution of broadcast quality video signals on cost effective category 5 wires. The system allows for long distances to be traveled without significant loss to signal quality.

CATS VGA can run distances of 1000 feet on a single category 5 wire. Its transmitter and receiver are CE compliant and powered by efficient 7.5 or 9 V DC. In addition, both are extremely compact measuring only 3.5″ W x 2.5″ H x 1.75″ D and 3.5″ W x 3″ H x 1.75″ D. The resolution of CATS VGA is configured to 1280 x 1024 pixels and higher with diminishing distances. It can be paired with Pragmatic’s PADS tube speakers for high performance audio. VGA’s optional features include stereo or digital audio and a broadcast unit for sending signals to up to 16 outputs. If no audio is used, the VGA can send RS232 serial data. An application of the RS232 could be for universal command to turn off displays at a set time.

CATS VGA has numerous applications including education, corporate, retail, airports, theme parks, and many more. Corporate training in hotel ballrooms or large conference areas could be simplified and require no costly or complicated wiring when implementing the CATS VGA system. In addition, schools and universities can use the system to upgrade its audio video systems and easily expand the system to grow along with it.

Pragmatic Communications Systems, Inc. is a Silicon Valley based company established in 1994 to design, develop and produce a variety of innovative and environmentally conscious products for wireless audio, video and data communications. The majority of the company’s products up until 1997 were designed for industrial and commercial applications, after which Pragmatic branched into the consumer market. The success of the older products led to a strong and dynamic technology base, which helps fulfill Pragmatic’s mission to create solutions to long unresolved technical problems with designs that are both compact and energy efficient. This belief has been applied to a new generation of Pragmatic products such as PADS, DMSTM, DAVES, CATSTM, True MusicTM wireless hi-fi system, and True ViewTM wireless video system.
