Phase Technologys Digital Audio Reference Theater System dARTS a Finalist in the 2006 Mark of Excellence Awards Competition

Major Breakthrough in Performance Acknowledged by CEA’s TechHome Division

JACKSONVILLE, FL — February 24, 2006 — Phase Technology, the leader in speaker design and engineering, is proud to announce that its breakthrough home entertainment dARTS Digital Audio Reference Theater System has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious 2006 Mark of Excellence Awards presented by the Consumer Electronics Association’s TechHome division. The Mark of Excellence Awards recognizes the best in home automation products, services, and installations. An expert panel of judges reviewed entries in 23 categories: Supplier, Integrator, Integrator of the Year and Training/Support to select the finalists with dARTS advancing to the finalist round in the Supplier: Best Speaker category. Winners will be announced at an awards banquet on Friday, March 31, 2006 at the Rosen Centre Hotel, during the Electronic House Expo Spring 2006.

“Our dARTS Digital Speaker System has received tremendous accolades since its introduction,” said Ken Hecht, president of Phase Technology. “We’re extremely proud to receive this acknowledgement from CEA’s TechHome Division and look forward to EHX Spring 2006 and the awards banquet.”

The innovative dARTS system incorporates a wide range of custom and purpose built speakers that utilize specially designed digital amplification, digital crossovers, and DSP processing to make a system so precise it immerses the listener in a cinematic experience far beyond what conventional audio systems can achieve. dARTS comes equipped with calibration software, which leads installers through determining a room’s acoustic signature, using a microphone to record audio response at various listening positions and loading the measurements into the DP-2000 amplifier.

Ken Hecht added: “By using full digital amplification and purpose-built crossovers, dARTS speakers can be matched to one another to incredibly fine tolerances. And with our custom calibration software, installers can make even the poorest acoustically designed room sound as good as the best theaters in the world. This is a truly one-of-a-kind system that takes the listening room’s acoustical anomalies out of the equation, letting listeners enjoy the pure movie sound effects and music that the artist intended.”

Phase Technology’s dARTS Digital Audio Reference Theater System continues the company’s longstanding tradition of excellence through innovation. While the system introduces cutting-edge electronics, each speaker uses the proven drivers, high-quality enclosures, and handcrafted care upon which Phase Technology has built its 50-year legacy of audio excellence.

Already, dARTS has been singled out by Start magazine with a 2005 Best Manufacturer Award, and after a showing at CEDIA EXPO 2005, Widescreen Review named the dARTS system as “Most Astonishing Audio,” while AVguide Monthly and The Perfect Vision recognized dARTS as “Best Sound” in their CEDIA EXPO 2005 coverage.

About Phase Technology

Phase Technology Corporation (toll-free at 888-PHASE TK; website at www.phasetech.com) is one of the few fully-vertically integrated American speaker manufacturers. The company started as United Speaker Systems in 1955 as an original equipment manufacturer and still designs and produces its own sub-assemblies in-house. Phase Technology’s speaker lines incorporate many proprietary innovations like the soft-dome tweeter, the industry’s standard invented by Bill Hecht, founder of Phase Technology. Other patents cover the self-damping woofer voice coil, the manufacturing process for flat-piston midrange drivers and woofers, silicone-injected drivers for resonance damping, and the positive-clamping mounting system for the premier in-wall Model CI-110/II. The company also developed the Unicell Zero-Diffraction treatment that reduces acoustic reflections off cabinet and grille surfaces. Phase Technology manufactures its wood cabinets by hand and performs quality control tests at every step of the fabrication process.

Building on five decades of design and engineering innovation in the manufacture of high quality, yet affordable speakers, Phase Technology supports its products with a 10-year warranty on speakers, while amplifiers are backed by a 3-year warranty. Phase Technology’s digital home theater, audiophile, outdoor, in-wall/in-ceiling custom installation speakers, as well as powered and in-wall subwoofers are constructed at the company’s Jacksonville, Florida facility.
