Web-Based Power and Energy Management Platform Goes Live

Marking the launch of a significant new technology poised to add value to electronic system installations, Panamax/Furman today announced that it has successfully completed Beta testing of its revolutionary BlueBOLT™ technology and that hardware is now shipping.

Select dealers who participated in the Beta test gave BlueBOLT high marks and could see the immediate benefits of this truly plug-and-play power and energy management technology. One major installer projected it will save them up to 80 percent on service calls alone. Besides being a robust and effective remote power management technology, BlueBOLT also provides installers and dealers with an energy management platform, saving their clients money on their utility bills, providing them with a higher level of energy consumption awareness, and helping them to be more energy efficient.

“Installers and dealers have been eagerly awaiting BlueBOLT since it was first announced, and we couldn’t be more excited to say that it is now live and hardware is shipping. Our Beta testing program was very successful and afforded us the opportunity to put the platform through its paces and test under a wide variety of real-world circumstances,” said Dave Keller, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Panamax/Furman. “The fundamental benefit of power management is that we add value to an installed system by ensuring protection and maximum performance. With BlueBOLT, we layer on a tremendous amount of additional value for the installer by not only increasing their ability to respond to service issues quickly and remotely, but by providing valuable information regarding energy usage and power quality to both the installer and their client. And this is just the beginning — as a hosted system, we will continue to update the platform to add even more value and flexibility to our customer’s installations.”

BlueBOLT provides hosted IP (Internet Protocol) power control and energy monitoring for A/V systems. Users can control BlueBOLT-equipped units through Panamax/Furman’s hosted BlueBOLT servers for plug-and-play setup (secured with SSL Extended Verification), or, if preferred, via direct connection over Telnet or HTTP using the BlueBOLT-CV1’s embedded Web server.

BlueBOLT’s top-line features include remote outlet control for hard-reboots of connected equipment; e-mail alerts when power anomalies occur; scheduled commands for power-up, power-down, or power-cycling of outlets; monitoring of current consumption and incoming voltage in near-real time or over history; and permissions settings to provide secure device access at administrator, installer, or client level.

BlueBOLT-enabled devices now shipping include the Panamax M4315-PRO 15-amp power conditioner ($649.95) and M4320-PRO 20-amp power conditioner ($749.95). The Panamax MB1500 ($1,299.95) and Furman F1500-UPS A/V Battery Backup ($1,299.95) solutions can be configured for BlueBOLT access with the addition of the BlueBOLT-CV1 interface card ($249.95).
