Outlaw Drops the Boom With $299 Subwoofer

Diminutive LFM-2 subwoofer features 8-inch downfiring woofer, 150 Watt BASH amplifier, and delivers linear bass down to 28 Hz at 110 dB SPL.

Outlaw Audio, the leading Internet-only home theater and audio manufacturer, has introduced the LFM-2 subwoofer for enthusiasts with smaller rooms and modest budgets. Like it’s larger brother, the Outlaw’s widely praised LFM-1, the LFM-2 was developed with the aid of Dr. Poh Ser Hsu, one of the world’s most respected subwoofer designers. It features an 8-inch woofer and powerful 150 Watt BASH amplifier in a single-ported downfiring configuration to deliver the perfect blend of high power output and remarkably deep bass for smaller living rooms, offices, dorms or bedrooms. Like all Outlaw Audio products, it can only be purchased online at www.outlawaudio.com.

“Some of the Outlaws considered calling this feisty little subwoofer the LFM-JR,” remarked a company spokesman, “… right up until we sat down for the first in-room listening tests. We don’t think anyone who has experienced the finesse, dynamics, and outright power that this little titan delivers would ever call it a ‘junior’ anything. It may be physically small, but it doesn’t seem to know that… and I certainly don’t want to be the one to tell it.”

Unlike many smaller home theater subwoofers, which present the illusion of full-range performance by delivering high output only in a single overemphasized frequency band, the LFM-2 is designed for extremely linear response throughout the bass range. Powered by a 150 Watt BASH amplifier that is capable of delivering 800 Watts during transients, the subwoofer has an honest extension all the way down to 28 Hz, and a remarkable SPL rating of 110 dB (25 Hz — 180 Hz, +/- 2 dB) in most rooms. The 8-inch long-throw woofer is mounted in a down-firing, single-port enclosure for extremely flexible placement options.

The rear-mounted amplifier section includes both line-level and speaker-level inputs, as well as speaker-level outputs for use with any receiver or processor. Crossover level is continuously variable from 30 to 90 Hz, or can be bypassed entirely for ideal integration with a full-range speaker system or when used with electronics that include first class bass management.

The LFM-2 was optimized for seamless acoustic and visual integration in nearly any room. It features an attractive black satin finish and elegant inset smoked Plexiglas top panel. At less than 12-inches wide, it easily blends into any decor.

The Outlaw Audio LFM-2 subwoofer is available for immediate delivery, exclusively from the company’s online store at www.outlawaudio.com for $299. For those desiring a dual-subwoofer configuration, a pair of LFM-2’s can be purchased at a package price of just $549.

Privately owned, Outlaw Audio designs their own line of high-performance, high-value consumer electronics products and markets them exclusively via the Internet from their www.outlawaudio.com website. The recipient of numerous major awards and “Recommended Component” ratings from major publications, Outlaw’s products are widely regarded by audiophiles around the world.
