Oneiros’ New Take on Speaker Design Will Require Deep Pockets

A new audio brand named Oneiros teases a new high-end loudspeaker set to debut on December 5, 2024 at a private launch event in NYC.

Oneiros Loudspeakers

Does the high-end audio category need another loudspeaker manufacturer? I know — when did we move to the Soviet Union? The reality in 2024 is that there are thousands of models from hundreds of brands designed to bring you a great listening experience. Whilst that much choice sounds fantastic, it also makes selecting a loudspeaker that might be right for you that much more difficult. The folks at Oneiros have something rather unique coming and we suspect it will not be inexpensive.

The person behind this new speaker is Jerry Bloomfield, CEO of Falcon Acoustics which already has a successful speaker lineup.

From Jerry Bloomfield, CEO of Falcon Acoustics and Oneiros AudioIt’s a thrill to see my dream project come to life,…Oneiros is the synthesis of aesthetics and technology, and the results of an innovative process that allows us to use composite technologies that in turn produce immersive sonics from a sculptured organic shape.

Mr. Bloomfield and his design team turned to Generative Design to create new speaker concepts that could be made into a realistic product. Three speaker design concepts were selected for further consideration.

Finally, one was chosen for its organic shape and the best potential development or both impeccable sonics and design aesthetics.

Let’s take a look at what the Oneiros speaker has to offer.

From Concept to Speaker

Oneiros is a three-way floorstanding speaker with a unique design that supports excellent sound reproduction. Oneiros stands approximately 5’6” tall, and each speaker is 265 pounds; do not even think about setting these up on your own.

The Oneiros speaker is built using the monocoque carbon-fiber pre-preg sandwich system used in the body of a typical F1 racing car.

Stage 1: The associated CAD design is broken down into parts made into primary patterning molds in a polyurethane tooling block. These are precision pattern-machined by sealed-chamber five-axis CNC cutters.

Stage 2: Primary patterning molds are finished and sealed. Multiple layers of release agents are applied.

Stage 3: Primary molds are formed from the production molds used to manufacture cabinet parts.

Stage 4: Cabinets are assembled and bonded by a composite fabricator normally making F1 parts using various density sandwich core Quasi Isotropic lay-up systems.

Stage 5: Cabinet finishing and metal-work detailing are undertaken by a local finishing company normally working for prestige automotive manufacturers such as Rolls Royce, Bentley, Bugatti, McLaren, Aston Martin, Hennessey and other ultra-high-end brands in the luxury market.

Production of the profiled aluminum front baffle (1,220 lbs solid aluminum billet 5-axis CNC system are machined down to 48 lbs) and matching profiled footplate. (125 lbs solid aluminum billet 5-axis CNC system machined down to 46 lbs)

Stage 6: Cabinets are delivered to Oneiros for completion.
