3G Wireless Signal Booster expands Voice and High Speed Packet coverage into weak cell phone signal areas

NETGEAR today announced its next-generation Mobile Smart Repeaters line, the MSRB2500 series. The MSRB2500 Mobile Smart Repeater is easily installed and boosts the mobile signal in the home or business within seconds. It expands mobile phone RF signal coverage into low signal-level areas. The Repeater starts with a Window Unit that is strategically placed to receive and send the highest possible RF signal from and to the nearest Mobile base station. It then uses unlicensed 5GHz spectrum to an indoor Coverage Unit. The Coverage Unit delivers RF to and from Mobile devices.

The latest improvements to the series include multi-carrier HSPA+ support, simultaneous voice and data boosting, greater internal antenna sensitivity and power output, optional external antenna and enhanced device management. This repeater significantly boosts customers' data speeds as well. The Window Unit displays 3G signal strength with the familiar “bars.”

Based on a technology partnership with Nextivity, NETGEAR launched the first generation of the Mobile Smart Repeaters, the MSRB2100 series, in 2010. The new MSRB2500 series builds upon the success of the MSRB2100 series and delivers expanded voice and data coverage, higher data rates enabling improved handset battery life, and offers mobile network operators a network-safe tool to lower churn and improve customer satisfaction.

Features

  • Improved Voice Coverage – Allows subscribers to make crystal clear calls throughout homes up to 1,235 m2 (13,300 sq. ft).
  • Improved Data Throughput – In weak signal areas, offers data throughput improvements often in excess of four fold.
  • Extended Handset Battery Life – Enables lower handset transmit power and thereby extends battery life.
  • Easy Installation – No external antennas, coaxial cables or complex settings. Truly plug and play. Automatically senses and adjusts to changes in the Mobile network or the presence of other MSRB2500s nearby.
