LUCI Ushers Style into VR with immers and alyx Headwear

LUCI immers

4K Immersion-on-Demand and Virtual Reality Headsets Debut at CES 2018

LUCI announced two immersive wearable headsets will be on display at CES 2018. The first to market is a 3D 4K immersion-on-demand wearable that resemble dark sunglasses called immers. The second stylish product, alyx, is an all-in-one virtual reality system.

LUCI immers is the first in Ultra-HD wearable immersion-on-demand device. Although technically not a VR headset, it provides an immersive viewing experience for watching 4K TV/movies, even in 3D 4K across dual 1920×1080 displays (3840×1080). LUCI immers claims to deliver precise, brilliant and eye-catching colors that will leave the user deeply engaged by the exquisite beauty of the story.

LUCI immers is lightweight, portable and convenient as a pair of sunglasses weighing only 6.5 oz (185 grams). It’s customizable design makes it possible to bring a premium movie theater experience anywhere. Users can experience content lying down, sitting or standing for extended periods of time.

“LUCI immers is the first step in our company’s commitment and passion to reimagine the way in which people come together to enjoy content,” says Jun Zhao, vice president, product operations, LUCI. “The flexible, compact and customizable design of LUCI immers makes it possible to bring the premium movie theater experience on the go, giving you the freedom to engage with content when and where you want.”

The stylish alyx by LUCI is a second generation all-in-one virtual reality wearable that aims to correct the current limitations of VR headsets such as viewing restrictions. It offers dual 1920×1080 displays (3840×1080) for 4K content, an increased FOV, and a 120Hz refresh rate that’s ideal for gaming as well as any VR content. It’s made of nanoscale high-density skin material and claims to provide unmatched comfort and durability with elegant style. Combined with improved tracking capabilities, users can interact and connect with their content in new and innovative ways.

“LUCI wants to fundamentally change how people consume content by giving users the most visually stunning experience possible through wearable technology. We want users to be amazed by the nuances of every frame, every scene and every minute detail through an uncompromised viewing experience,” said Josh Littlefield, vice president of global sales and marketing for LUCI. “For users to truly experience powerful, emotionally moving narratives, we must first unbind them from the shackles of the limitations present in hardware today. LUCI is committed to helping all consumers experience content as creators intended their stories to be told, in emotional and meaningful ways.”

Price and Availability
Immers will go into production in Q2 2018, and alyx is the second generation product going into production in 2019. No word yet on pricing for either.
