Legendary Rock Band Cream Chooses JBL VerTec Pro Audio Loudspeakers for 2005 Reunion Concerts at Londons Royal Albert Hall

WOODBURY, NY — It’s the biggest rock and roll news in decades: Legendary rock group Cream, which electrified the music world in the Sixties with its powerful playing and inventive musicianship, is reuniting for four concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England, in May 2005. In support of these landmark performances, JBL’s acclaimed VerTec (Vertical Technology) line-array professional audio loudspeakers have been chosen for use in the concert sound system.

Cream, comprising drummer Ginger Baker, bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce and guitarist/vocalist Eric Clapton, set new standards for musical virtuosity in rock music, and performed with a level of emotional intensity that has never been surpassed. In the 1960s, Cream established itself as one of the most influential rock bands of all time with classic songs such as “Sunshine of Your Love,” “White Room,” “Badge” and their definitive live version of Robert Johnson’s “Crossroads.” Cream was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.

Cream will be playing at the Royal Albert Hall on May 2, 3, 5 and 6, 2005. The Royal Albert Hall has a long and rich history as one of the world’s most prestigious entertainment venues, and has hosted more than 150,000 performances and major events.

Paul Bente, president of JBL Consumer Products, noted: “JBL is extremely proud to be an important part of the upcoming Cream concerts, which are among the most anticipated in the history of rock music. Cream and JBL share a similar commitment to excellence — Cream as a group of gifted artists who take creative improvisation and musical passion to extraordinary heights, and JBL as the foremost supplier of high-quality loudspeakers for concert halls, recording studios, movie theaters and home listening. We look forward to bringing the Royal Albert Hall audiences an absolutely thrilling and unforgettable concert experience.”

Since their introduction, JBL’s VerTec loudspeakers have established themselves as an industry standard for professional concert sound reinforcement, thanks to their advanced-technology drivers and components, compact size, modular installation flexibility, and — above all — their extraordinary sound quality. JBL VerTec loudspeakers can be configured to deliver optimum sound quality and coverage in any concert hall, and consist of a complete range of line-array loudspeakers and subwoofer modules.

JBL VerTec loudspeakers deliver exceptional clarity, resolution and on- and off-axis frequency response along with high-power-handling capability, and they excel at reproducing the full sonic spectrum from the deepest lows of the bass and kick drum to the most subtle high-frequency nuances.

Their compact size, lighter weight, ease of installation and superior performance compared to conventional sound-reinforcement loudspeakers have revolutionized the concert sound industry.

JBL is the leading manufacturer of professional and consumer loudspeakers worldwide. The JBL heritage of unexcelled sound quality spans more than 50 years, and no other company has consistently contributed more than JBL to the evolution of audio reproduction in professional, home, automotive and multimedia applications.

Today, the majority of recording studios, concert halls and movie theaters use JBL loudspeakers, and thanks to JBL’s “Pro Sound Comes Home” design philosophy, consumers can enjoy the same clear, accurate and dynamic sound quality heard by the pros. JBL’s consumer loudspeakers utilize technologies and engineering directly derived from the company’s professional models, to deliver spectacular music and movie soundtrack reproduction. From compact, high-value home and car speakers to ultrahigh-end custom installations and the largest scale concert touring systems, JBL truly sets the standards in music and cinema sound.
