KEF KHT1005.2 Series Home Theater Speaker System Now Shipping

New Home Theater Speaker System, Featuring the KUBE-1 Subwoofer, Incorporates Uni-Q Driver Technology and Compact Design

Marlboro, N.J. — February 8, 2008 — KEF, renowned British manufacturer of audiophile-quality speakers and world-class home theater speakers, has announced that the new KHT1005.2 Series home theater speaker system, including the KUBE-1 Subwoofer, is in stock and available for immediate shipment.

Complemented by the KUBE-1, KEF’s newest, diminutive high performance subwoofer, the KHT1005.2 Series is a 5.1 home theater speaker system featuring KEF’s iconic ‘egg-shaped’ surround speakers. Both are part of the second-generation installment to KEF’s Home Theater 1000 Series speaker system.

“With the KHT1005.2 Series, we improved upon the precedent set with the success of our Home Theater Speaker systems,” said Alec Chanin, president of KEF America. “Incorporating a sleek and sophisticated design, along with our smallest Uni-Q driver, the KHT1005.2 Series delivers KEF’s signature high end sound from an incredibly compact system.”

Based on the highly successful Home Theater 1000 Series speaker system, the KHT1005.2 Series improves upon the already stellar audio performance of its predecessor. With four satellites and one center channel speaker, the KHT1005.2 features the latest generation of Uni-Q drivers with advanced aerospace material. At 75mm (3″), they are the smallest Uni-Q drivers used in KEF speakers, resulting in exceptional clarity within a diminutive enclosure.

KEF’s patented Uni-Q driver achieves what audio engineers have sought for decades: to project an exceptionally broad frequency range from just a single point. Uni-Q technology disperses sound over a wide area without losing quality, which the consumer can enjoy from any location within a room. KEF places its tweeter in the acoustic and mechanical center of the midrange cone, resulting in a near-perfect, single-point-source driver. This configuration ensures both drivers’ frequency ranges are delivered in precise focus, providing the widest achievable dispersion. All listeners throughout the room can enjoy optimal sound quality, including those outside of the typical “sweet spot.” Simply stated, the entire room is the “sweet spot.”

The KHT1005.2 satellite and center speakers are the most compact of KEF’s home theater speaker systems. Available in a high-gloss black finish, it is well-suited to the trend of high-gloss TVs. By also including mounting brackets, KEF gives consumers the option to mount the speakers to a wall or shelf.

To complete the 5.1 home theater experience, KEF provides the system with an inspired performance subwoofer, the new KUBE-1. With a compact and lightweight design, the new entry-level KUBE-1 is a direct replacement for the PSW1000.2. The beauty of KEF’s new KUBE-1 subwoofer resides not only in its aesthetic appeal but also in its unique cubed construction which allows the installer to tuck it discretely in corners, maximizing space. Standing at 11.5″ wide x 11.5″ high x 11.5″ deep and sporting a high-gloss surface, the KUBE-1 delivers lush bass and full-bodied sound thanks to the 150W class D amplifier and 8″ driver. Combined with an Auxiliary Bass Radiator (ABR) of the same size, the sub produces deep, defined bass with a tight response and tuneful musicality seldom appreciated at this size or price point.

The complete KHT1005.2 Speaker System includes four satellite speakers (one pair for front and one pair for rear), one center channel speaker and the KUBE-1 Subwoofer to create a stunning 5.1 home theater experience. The system is available now for a listed MSRP of $850.00.
