IOGEAR GCS1716 KVM Switch Announced

Versatile 16-Port USB PS/2 Combo KVM Switch enables IT administrators to control up to 256 computers

Irvine, CA — November 19, 2008 — With IOGEAR’s new 16-Port USB PS/2 Combo KVM Switch (GCS1716), businesses can now save money on additional peripherals, such as keyboards, monitors and mice, by sharing one set across up to 256 computers, while also increasing efficiency, maximizing space and reducing energy costs.

The device is compatible with USB and PS/2 connections, making it a comprehensive solution for all computing environments. Simple to operate, users can select which computers to access by manually pressing front panel push button LEDs, entering hot key combinations or selecting from an intuitive, multi-lingual on-screen display menu. The 16-Port USB PS/2 Combo KVM Switch is also equipped with a USB port on the front of the device to do system upgrades or easily share peripherals, such as external hard drives, between the connected computers.

For companies that need to have access to a multitude of systems or servers, the 16-Port USB PS/2 Combo KVM Switch can cascade up to two levels, enabling as many as 16 additional linked switches to allow control of up to 256 machines from a single keyboard-monitor-mouse console. This allows professionals to have one workstation to manage multiple computers and eliminates complicated and burdensome set-ups.

“At IOGEAR, we strive to expand our KVM line to meet the demands of various audiences. The 16-Port USB PS/2 Combo KVM Switch extends our innovative technologies to small- and medium-sized business,” said Miranda Su, executive vice president of IOGEAR. “The product’s versatility, user-friendly features and capacity can help IT administrators maximize space and efficiency in their day-to-day operations.”

The 16-Port USB PS/2 Combo KVM Switch is compatible with Linux, Mac, Sun Solaris and Windows operating systems. It is available immediately from all major catalog and online resellers, as well as select retail outlets for $799.95 (MSRP). The product comes with IOGEAR’s standard three-year warranty.

IOGEAR’s KVM solutions lead the company’s GREEN initiative by reducing energy consumption and eliminating the use of multiple computer monitors and peripherals.
