Home Automation Inc HAI Announces DSC Integration with HAIs Lumina Home Control Products

Home Automation, Inc. (HAI) announced the integration between HAI’s Lumina central lighting and home automation product line and Tyco’s DSC PowerSeries security panels.

HAI’s newly released 2.15 controller firmware adds support for DSC PowerSeries alarm systems for the Lumina and Lumina Pro home control systems. The Lumina and Lumina Pro DSC PowerSeries integration is over a serial connection. The Lumina and Lumina Pro support all DSC PowerSeries models and require either the DSC IT-100 integration module or DSC PC5401 serial adapter. The Lumina supports up to 32 security zones from the DSC security panel and the Lumina Pro supports up to 64 security zones from the DSC security panel.

With the integration, the Lumina or Lumina Pro can trigger events from the DSC security zones when they are opened or closed such as turning the foyer light on when the front door is open if it is dark. The Lumina or Lumina Pro can also trigger events when the DSC security system goes into Alarm such as turning on all inside and outside lights when a burglar or fire alarm is tripped.

For energy efficiency the Lumina or Lumina Pro can change modes when the DSC security system is armed or disarmed. When leaving the house and arming the DSC alarm in the AWAY mode, the Lumina or Lumina Pro will automatically set back thermostats and turn off lights. Additionally the integration allows the arming or disarming of the DSC security system over the Internet via HAI’s award-winning Snap-Link software.

“The Lumina Pro is a great up sell opportunity for DSC security installers,” explains Thomas Pickral Jr., HAI Manager of Business Development and Corporate Training. “It gives DSC customers and installers an affordable automation and lighting control option that is built on the proven and reliable DSC family of PowerSeries security panels and is easy to integrate. DSC dealers have the opportunity to add lighting control, energy management, audio, touchscreens, and remote access and control through the telephone or over the Internet. Options like our Snap-Link software for Internet access have never been so easy to use and cost effective with DSC security systems; there is a lot of value for the dealer and homeowner.”
