HAI Load Control Modules for Smart Grid Solutions

HAI Load Control Modules

Home Automation, Inc. (HAI), leading manufacturer of integrated security and home automation products since 1985, announced the production of several Load Control Modules (LCMs) as part of their Smart Grid Solutions product line.

HAI’s new family of LCMs allows utility customers to control a wide variety of high consumption devices ranging from water heaters and pool pumps to air conditioners. HAI’s indoor LCM is for small appliances and lighting. It can act as a repeater for ZigBee systems, extending the range of control for sheddable loads including fountains, small heaters and more.

These LCMs are specifically designed for Utility Demand, utilizing randomized load pickup after outages. They include current measuring which senses the status of the load and allows for measure and display of current consumption. The LCMs have very low power consumption and are compact in size.

LCMs can be controlled remotely by the utility company or over the Internet. They may also be controlled locally by the homeowner using HAI’s other Home Area Network (HAN) products such as the Omnistat2 Programmable Communicating Thermostat (PCT) or In Home Display (IHD).

“These load control modules use the latest technology available so that we can bring the biggest value to our utility customers,” said Thomas Pickral, Jr., HAI Director of Business Development. “Offering a wide variety of LCMs allows utility customers to determine how they want to proceed into the Smart Grid arena.”

HAI offers a full suite of products that cover any type of Home Area Network application including In Home Displays, Load Control Modules, and Programmable Communicating Thermostats that are designed to use the ZigBee Smart Energy, Sensus FlexNet, and is expandable for additional technologies. Designed for Time of Use, Duty Cycling, and Energy Awareness programs for utility companies interested in Smart Grid and tailoring load profiles for best use of assets.
