FOTONATION SELECTED BY TRIMBLE TO PROVIDE
WIRELESS IMAGING TECHNOLOGY TO GPS HANDHELDS

FotoNation Implements PTP-IP Protocol on Trimble Devices to Wirelessly
Transfer Photos from Digital Cameras

Burlingame, CA, Nov. 20, 2006 — FotoNation, (www.fotonation.com), a world-leading imaging and connectivity solutions company for the digital photography industry, announced today that it has been selected by Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) to provide wireless PTP-IP technology for Trimble’s Mapping & Geographic Information System (GIS) handheld product line. Trimble’s new TrimPix technology enabled by FotoNation, links high resolution digital photographs to GIS features using Wi-Fi capable Nikon cameras. The technology is being showcased at the Trimble Dimensions Users Conference in Las Vegas and the European Conference for ESRI Users in Athens, Greece.

As each photo is taken, the Nikon camera automatically transfers the digital image wirelessly to Trimble’s handheld GPS receiver or field computer. Once the photo has been transferred, it is linked to GIS (Geographic Information System) data for use with mapping and searching applications. Current Nikon cameras supporting the WiFi capability include the affordable COOLPIX models P1, P2, P3, S6 and S7c.

“We are delighted to be selected by Trimble, as they are a world leader in GPS technology,” said Eran Steinberg, CEO of FotoNation. “FotoNation has developed one of the industry’s strongest core competencies in the design and implementation of wireless digital photography solutions. We foresee vast potential for many other vertical applications such as this,” he continued.

FotoNation PTP-IP Wireless Standard

FotoNation was selected for Trimble’s wireless implementation because of its expertise in PTP-IP wireless communications transfer protocol, which was standardized in 2005 by CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association) for the transfer of images and other digital media content across TCP/IP and WiFi networks between digital imaging devices and services.

“The new TrimPix technology provides Trimble’s GIS data collection customers with a more productive and flexible workflow,” said, Doug Merrill, General Manager for Trimble’s Mapping & GIS Division. “FotoNation provided Trimble with their deep knowledge and expertise of camera connectivity that quickly enabled us to bring this new imaging capability to market.”
Through FotoNation Connected-Photography solutions, digital cameras can be connected to numerous devices, including printers, computers, handhelds, cellphones, in-store kiosks, TVs, and PDAs, etc. The PTP-IP standard allows companies to open up to new applications that can take advantage of instant image transfer to/from camera phones, digital cameras and other digital imaging devices.
