Focal Goes Full Versailles: Diva Utopia Now Comes in Three Lacquered Finishes Fit for an Emperor—and Ready to Rule Arrakis

Focal’s Diva Utopia wireless speakers now come in Black, Dune, and Off White High Gloss finishes. At $49,499, these beauties are the audio equivalent of a sand dune—luxurious, elusive, and priced to remind you that this isn’t for the faint of heart.

Focal Diva Utopia Wireless Loudspeakers High Gloss off white, dune and black

Focal, the high priests of acoustic purity from Saint-Étienne, return with a new aesthetic prophecy for their Diva Utopia wireless loudspeaker. Cloaked in three newly lacquered finishes—Black High Gloss, Dune High Gloss, and Off White High Gloss—this is no mere refresh. It’s a declaration. One meant for living rooms that look like they were designed by House Corrino, not Ikea.

Since its 2024 arrival in a moody Grey Felt cloak, the Diva Utopia has been the elegant disruptor: a connected, high-fidelity monolith for those who crave top-tier wireless sound without sacrificing taste. Now, with these upgraded robes, the Diva becomes even more of a statement. A whisper in lacquer—subtle, stylish, and about as humble as a Landsraad tax audit. Quite the contrast to the Sardaukar, whose screams echoed like a Wagner opera as Paul Atreides set down his Buc-ee’s coffee with the casual menace of a man who knows his voice can flatten armies—and his barista’s soul.

Original Diva Utopia vs Black High Gloss

Diva Utopia Wireless: The French don’t just do sound—they sculpt it.

After five years in the audio laboratory (probably under a full moon, surrounded by Bordeaux and beryllium), Focal finally unleashed the Diva Utopia—A $39,999 wireless beast that’s less about playing nice and more about establishing total sonic supremacy—because apparently, fidelity alone just doesn’t cut it unless it also terrifies the neighbours and bankrupts a minor duchy.

Yes, that eye-watering price includes four Naim Audio Class A/B amplifiers inside each speaker, so if you’re wondering where your separates went, Focal already installed them—neatly hidden behind that sculpted French armor.

What sets the Diva apart from its snobby passive siblings in the Utopia line—like the “starter” La Scala Utopia EVO or the power-hungry Grand Utopia EM EVO—is that this one doesn’t need your gear rack, your cables, or your excuses. You want to stream from your phone, tablet, or that overpriced network player collecting dust on your credenza? Go for it. Diva Utopia is fully active, fully wireless, and unapologetically ready to make your traditional hi-fi setup feel like it belongs in a museum.

The speaker itself is a 3-way with Focal’s infamous beryllium M-shaped tweeter, a W-cone midrange, and four 6.5″ woofers in a push-push configuration that could probably knock the beret off a French bulldog at 30 paces. Each driver section gets its own amp channel, adding up to 400 watts of raw Naim power per speaker, all calibrated to fill rooms up to 80 square meters with precision and punch.

On the wireless front, Focal decided Bluetooth was for peasants. Instead, Diva uses UWB (Ultra Wide Band) transmission, giving you lossless, zero-latency audio streaming that would make your old Wi-Fi gear blush. And thanks to Naim’s Pulse Platform, it plays nice with everything in the Focal & Naim universe—because when you drop $40K on loudspeakers, the last thing you want is pairing problems.

Finishes That Reflect Power

The new finishes aren’t just cosmetic—they’re the interior design equivalent of Blackadder throwing a dinner party with Martha Stewart. Black High Gloss sulks with brooding authority, like a butler who’s seen too much. Dune High Gloss shimmers with desert chic—melange glamour with just enough menace to make your other gear nervous. And Off White High Gloss? Elegant, disciplined, and terrifyingly tasteful, like a mentat redecorating your panic room.

Each is lacquered to a mirror shine, enhancing not only the hue but the sculpted geometry of the loudspeaker itself.

Choose Your Path—Or Change It

Originally launched in Grey Felt (a fine choice for the minimalist Atreides among us), Diva Utopia now offers the lacquered options as an upgrade—available exclusively through select Focal Powered by Naim locations. These aren’t mass-market swaps. These are bespoke upgrades handled by professionals trained to treat each Diva like a relic from the archives of Wallach IX.

Already own a Diva? Focal lets you step into your next phase of sonic evolution. Order new lacquered side panels. Watch your listening room level up. No spice required.

Your wallet may scream, but your living room will whisper, “This is the way.”

House Focal has spoken.

The Dune colorway is very chic. The “felt” finish was anything but for $39,999.

    Fun write-up.
