DVD6C Licensing Agency Announces Tatsuya Ii as New Exclusive Regional Agent To Service the Americas

TOKYO — May 15, 2007 — The DVD6C Licensing Group (DVD6C), whose members include nine leading developers of DVD technology and formats, today announced the appointment of Mr. Tatsuya Ii as Exclusive Regional Agent of DVD6C Americas. Ii will succeed Masahisa Saito effective June 1, 2007.

Ii stated “DVD6C was initially created to ensure a level playing field for the DVD industry. As the Exclusive Regional Agent, I will continue to actively work toward this goal.”

The DVD6C Licensing Agency was formed by six of the leading developers of DVD technology in June 1999, to jointly license essential patents for the manufacture and sale of DVD products worldwide.

The six original member companies include Hitachi Ltd., Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. (Panasonic), Ltd., Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Toshiba Corporation, Victor Company of Japan, Ltd. (JVC), and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Inc. In April 2005, SANYO Electric Co., Ltd., and Sharp Corporation became members, and in November 2006, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. joined this worldwide joint licensing program.
