Control4 Releases Triad Designer Series In-Ceiling Speakers

Triad DS4-FR Designer Series In-Ceiling Speaker with Grille

Control4 today released the new Triad Designer Series custom-built, full-range in-ceiling speakers featuring a solid wood construction that isolates the sound to keep the audio concentrated in the rooms where you want it and out of the rooms you don’t. At $1400 each, the Designer Series are aimed high-end homeowners looking for unobtrusive ceiling speakers without sacrificing sound quality, aesthetics or home design.

Triad’s Designer Series boast rich, full sound from a tiny four-inch, flush-mount speaker grill. These speakers are uniquely engineered to hide neatly in a ceiling while projecting full, rich sound from an unobtrusive, tiny four-inch flush-mounted grill, all while retaining simple serviceability. With both full range and subwoofer models, Triad Designer Series speakers reproduce a wider range of sound than traditional invisible speakers and employ Triad’s Ultra-Broad Dispersion (UBD) tweeter to fill a room with music without ever compromising design aesthetics.

The choice for in-ceiling speakers traditionally been a compromise between sound and design. The relatively narrow sound dispersion of conventional in-ceiling speakers requires more speakers to fill a room with sound, and their prominent speaker grills are an eyesore. Alternatively, invisible speakers can disappear behind the ceiling or wall, but lack high and low frequency response; and because they are integrated into the finished ceiling, repair and replacement is typically very involved and difficult.

“My clients love music and want to be able to listen to it throughout their home. It’s something that has become a staple in most of my building projects. But it’s not always easy to balance the performance requirements of speakers with the design aesthetic my customers expect,” says Rose Barroso of Barroso Homes. “I now have a solution that is low-profile and sleek, but also delivers the music quality that my homeowners expect.”

The Designer Series delivers a trifecta. Homeowners get the sound quality that enhances and supports their love of music; designers and architects deliver the audio performance their clients expect without compromising aesthetics or design; and dealers get completely serviceable speakers without cutting a hole in the finished ceiling.

Ideal for multi-room audio, the DS4-FR full-range speaker includes two woofers and an Ultra Broad Dispersion (UBD) tweeter that disperses sound through a 150-degree field that is up to 50 percent wider than conventional speakers, minimizing spots where the music is too loud or too quiet. The DS4-FR offers plenty of low-end capacity, but for rooms where exceptional bass is desired, the DS4-SUB delivers through its three woofers while remaining incredibly discrete.

Price and Availability
The Triad Designer Series (models DS4-FR and DS4-SUB) is available today for $1,400 each in white, black or custom finishes with a 10-year warranty.
