Three-Way Floorstanding System Seamlessly Integrates Bass, Mid-Bass and Mid-Range Audio for Exceptionally Clear, Three-Dimensional Soundstage
Koetsu USA, the U.S. distribution arm of the world-renowned Japanese cartridge manufacturer, introduces into the U.S. market the Chario Academy Sovran Speaker, a new entry in Chario’s flagship Academy line of speakers, at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show, beginning here today.
The Academy Sovran speaker by Chario Loudspeakers, Italy’s largest manufacturer of high-performance speakers, is a handsome floorstanding three-way system that seamlessly integrates bass, mid-bass and mid-range output to deliver an astonishingly full and accurate soundstage. Its three-dimensional depth is notable both for its instrumental clarity and crisp vocal detail.
The Sovran was designed by Mario Marcello Murace, Chario’s head of research and development, using advanced acoustic studies of binaural hearing in small rooms. Partly as a result, it decreases the harmful masking effect of low frequency standing waves, and enhances tonal components of the stereophonic signal so they are more easily detected.
The Sovran is rated for 180 Watts into 4 Ohms, and housed in an elegant, two-part cabinet measuring 47.6 inches high, 9.4 inches wide and 17.2 inches deep, making the Sovran ideal for small and medium-size rooms. The gorgeous cabinet is exquisitely constructed using thick, solid Walnut or Cherry, with a front baffle of high-density fiberboard (HDF).
The cabinet’s lower section contains two 8-inch (200mm) subwoofers. The upper section contains one 6.7-inch (170mm) midrange woofer and one 1.2-inch (32mm) soft-dome Silversoft tweeter. Four proprietary, cylindrical elastomer puffers, designed to fit into special machined recesses, dampen vibrations by dissipating mechanical energy separate the sections.
