Compact, Mobile Scanning Solution to Meet The Needs Of A Growing Marketplace

Continuing its tradition in high-quality imaging devices and recognizing a growing need for portable and mobile image capture solutions, Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging and office solutions, today announced the imageFORMULA P-150 personal scanner. Building upon its award-winning imageFORMULA product line, the P-150 personal scanner’s compact size and simple use liberates document capture by taking it beyond the walls of the office to the convenience of any user location. Its innovative design and outstanding value make it ideal for use by “road warriors” and office users for general-purpose distributed scanning applications to improve personal efficiency and productivity.

“The new imageFORMULA P-150 personal scanner is an easy-to-use, mobile scanning device that can be utilized by a wide variety of commercial end-users,” said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. “The combination of speed, advanced features and high image quality in such a compact footprint make this an ideal image capture solution for everyone from ‘on-the-go travelers’ to users in small offices.”

Measuring at only 11 inches long, 3.7 inches wide and 1.6 inches high and weighing just over two pounds, the new Canon P-150 personal scanner redefines the minimum dimensions of a document scanner with automatic document feeder. The P-150 can scan a batch of up to 20 documents at its maximum scanning speed of 15 pages-per-minute (ppm) in simplex, or 30 images-per-minute (ipm) in duplex scanning, yet still fits easily into a briefcase.

“Scanning has undergone a sea of changes in the recent past with a new emphasis on compact, mobile and personal use scan devices making a significant move forward,” said Anne Valaitis, associate director, InfoTrends Inc., the leading strategic consulting and market research firm in the business communications and digital imaging marketplace. “Canon enters into this exciting category at a time when mobile workers are clamoring for highly capable devices to serve their specific needs. We view this personal, decentralized scanning space as one that is exploding as more and more knowledge workers are becoming familiar with scanning and its considerable benefits inside and outside the office.”

To further improve the functionality of the Canon P-150 and ease-of-use for end-users, Canon “CaptureOnTouch Lite”, a “Plug-and-Scan” capability, is built directly into the scanner, letting users easily and instantaneously start scanning without installing drivers of imaging applications. The P-150 also includes ISIS and TWAIN drivers, industry standard interfaces for seamlessly linking applications and scanners, for easy hardware integration with third-party Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software. In addition, the P-150 can use electrical power via a single USB cable connected to a PC. Whether for sharing in the office or for personal use, the Canon P-150’s Bus Power Drive technology adds true mobility to document imaging.

The Canon imageFORMULA P-150 personal scanner will be exclusively available through CDW beginning October 28th, at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $295.
