Versatile, Installer-Friendly LCAi220 Local Control Amplifier Delivers Top Performance, Versatility and Invisibility

Boston Acoustics introduces the LCAi220 Local Control Amplifier at the International Consumer Electronics Show.

The LCAi220 is an ideal high-performance solution for plasma and other flat-panel TVs, and can be used as well with virtually any type of Boston speaker — bookshelf, floor-standing, on-wall, in-wall, or in-ceiling. Small, flat and compact, the amplifier can be installed within the wall behind a flat-panel display so it mounts flush with the wall and is effectively invisible — a feature both installers and their clients will appreciate.

The LCAi220 is designed to automatically switch between a central audio system and a local source when a local source is powered up. The LCAi220 senses when a user turns on a TV or other device, and delivers the audio from that source through the local speakers provided. The essence of simplicity, the amplifier connects to any local source with high- or low-level inputs and serves as a valuable addition to a whole-house audio system. Connect an MP3 player and the LCAi220 becomes an integrated personal audio system.

The LCAi220 delivers 20 watts at 4 ohms, and fits into a two-gang new construction box. Installers can set the overall volume and gain. The amplifier includes an adjustable high-pass filter, detachable connectors that can be used with 12-gauge wire, a signal-sensed video in and video loop out, a 12-volt DC trigger input and output, high- and low-level speaker inputs, a high-level speaker default input, local and remote power jacks, and a standard automotive spade fuse for output and overload protection.

The LCAi220 Local Control Amplifier is expected to be available in January from authorized Boston Acoustics dealers. It was seen with Boston Acoustics’ other outstanding home and custom products at The Renaissance Hotel, Suite 539. Boston products could also be seen at The Boston Sound Experience, North Plaza, near the North Hall parking lot, and at Booth 1427, Las Vegas Convention Center, North Hall, during CES.
