ADTRAN Names Gary Bolton as Vice President of Global Marketing

Industry Veteran Joins ADTRAN Management Team

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.–(February 23, 2009)–ADTRANµ, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADTN), a leading supplier of networking and communications solutions, announced today that it has named Gary Bolton as vice president of Global Marketing. Bolton brings more than 20 years experience in telecom having helped large, industry-leading companies and growing innovative start-ups build brand, develop product positioning, communicate key messaging and establish leadership positions throughout the world. He joins ADTRAN from Hatteras Networks where he served as vice president of Marketing and Product Line Management. In his new role, Bolton will be responsible for development and implementation of all marketing initiatives across the company. His efforts will focus on growing market penetration of the company’s key product lines.

Prior to joining Hatteras, Bolton served as vice president of Broadband Access Marketing for Ciena Corporation and had previously served as vice president of Product Marketing and Product Management for Catena Networks, which was acquired by Ciena in May 2004. Bolton’s career also includes 15 years of service with Nortel Networks in various management roles including Marketing, Product Line Management and Engineering. He holds an MBA from Duke University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
